What’s a Palm Between Pals? was inspired by a sunny afternoon in Latchi, Cyprus.

Two best friends, a swimming pool, plenty of laughter, and a palm leaf found on the ground that quickly became a perfectly placed prop. 🌴

The photograph itself was planned, but the joy in the moment was very real. Just two friends enjoying the sunshine and the kind of ease that comes from being around someone who knows you well enough that nothing needs to be hidden, explained, or perfected.

The title came naturally. What’s a Palm Between Pals? felt like the perfect way to capture the humour of the moment and the trust between two people who are completely comfortable in each other’s company.

What drew me to paint this scene was that feeling of freedom. Bodies not being scrutinised or compared, but simply lived in. Laughing, relaxing, existing exactly as they are.

There was something about the mix of humour, confidence, and friendship that felt worth capturing. Turning the photograph into a painting allowed the moment to become something more than a memory.

At its heart, What’s a Palm Between Pals? is a small celebration of friendship, body confidence, and the joy of feeling completely at home in your own skin.
